K1 | 3.10+ Years
Children at 4 are energetic, imaginative and eager to put into practice all that they have assimilated in their previous year. They can now associate sounds with symbols and blend them into words….. they can read, spell and draw meaning from context. This gives them confidence to learn more. So reading and writing is now leveled and graded while still allowing children accelerate at their individual capacities and abilities. Writing, creative expression and elaboration now become the focus in Language. At this stage, children are introduced to both a foreign language and Hindi.
In Math skills, they become familiar with numbers and are ready for the challenges of simple calculations. Children are introduced to the concepts of measurement, weight and volume through simple experiential activities. Science experiments become the norm of the day.
Songs, dances, arts, craft and instrumental music become more complex. The duration of each activity increases and the period of structured learning becomes longer.
Thematic learning is the approach taken for year 4, as it becomes increasingly easy to integrate a theme into every area of learning while achieving the learning objectives appropriate for this stage of development.
